THE STORY OF HOW THE CARTERS TOUCH FOUNDATION WAS STARTED:
“Back in 2013, I had an idea” because so many people in the parish needed help to get on their feet, and because I felt that something needed to be done about disabled veterans and homeless people in Shreveport, Louisiana I set out to form a foundation. The Carter’s Touch Foundation was to be a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization owned and operated in Shreveport, Louisiana. I also noticed that women and children also needed help with homelessness.
I thought of a business that would request donations and help from the local communities to help these poor people that needed food and shelter while leaving the Caddo Correctional Center and in and around Shreveport Louisiana. I was not very successful for the first few years and business was very slow. I was determined to make a difference and help people any way that I could. I set out to become a grant writer for the Carters Touch Foundation in hopes of finding some funding.
I continued to struggle and found out that people were committing fraud and embezzling money from non-profits and were being sent to jail because of it. This was leaving a lot of people in Shreveport unsure of people like me, and they were unwilling to help the foundation mission with donations and funding. I was determined to continue the mission of the Carters Touch Foundation and strive to do better in 2018 into 2019 with a renewed sense of commitment.
“Please find it in your heart to make a donation to the Carters Touch Foundation” so that we can help people in Shreveport that need your help. Thank you for your support.
